Mazy is One Year Old!

We drove to St. Louis (Kirkwood) to celebrate Lea and Mazy's birthdays and Mother's Day. Lea and Mike had a party for Mazy with many of their ward friends and children attending.

Isn't Mazy's cake beautiful? It was made with love by Lea!

Grandma and Grandpa enjoying Mazy's company:)

Mazy loves playing with balloons!

She's good at discovering presents:)

Spring Break in Sequim :)

After I arrived at the Seattle airport, we spent the night in a motel so we could spend time in Seattle the next day. It was an interesting night in that there was a convention of Fantasy/Hero lovers staying in the motel who were dressed up in costume and looking a little scary. They were partying in their rooms and in the hallways all through the whole hotel! Weird!

We went to the Old Curiosity Shop first - lots of unusual items and the totem poles outside.

Claire is probably wondering why Daddy is holding her up high for this picture - I'm not sure she really got a look at the 2 headed critter behind her:) There were several of those in the shop!
Isn't her hat cute?

We strolled for several blocks of vendors, selling lots of flowers like these, as well as food and lots of other items. It was very colorful!

One of several groups singing on the sidewalk for donations.

This was one of the largest fish markets - Pike's Market where they sometimes throw the fish around.

We took the ferry part of the way home. This Coast Guard boat accompanied us - maybe you can see that the man in front is in a black rubber suit with his hands on a machine gun! They seemed to be doing some kind of training exercize because there were 2 boats trading places and going around the ferry.

The rest of the week I relaxed and didn't think at all about Galesburg, Il (or the dozen IEP's I'll need to write in the next 2 weeks!) We watched New Moon and Blindside and lots of other Disney movies that Claire loves:) Megan cooked some delicious meals and I took home the recipes. I've already made the Navajo tacos - yumm.

Thanks again Megan & Brian for a great week!

Weekend with Mike, Lea, and Mazy

It was Martin Luther King holiday, so I was able to spend a nice weekend in St. Louis and drive home on Monday. Mazy is growing, learning to crawl, and eating real food!

Mazy and Grandma in Mazy's room, decorated with butterflies.
She is wearing her new pj's.

Mazy is getting interested in "real food" now. She really
wanted a bite of Lea's pear!

Perched atop her "car" Mazy gets a push around
the living room.

I have this really cute video clip of Mazy starting to
crawl, but I can't get it to load! I've been having this
problem for months and can't figure out what I might
be doing wrong! Any suggestions?

Happy 90th Birthday Dad McEwan! January 8

A tribute in words and pictures to Jack Berry McEwan
for his 90th birthday

Even at age 2 and 1/2, Rob liked airplanes, just like Dad.
Dad served as a B-17 pilot in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Taking us to the Rose Parade, Pasadena, CA 1979. We went
several other times over the years, with Michael and Brian,
compliments of Dad.

Even at age 8, Michael loved and admired his Grandpa.
He is showing him his winning collage entitled "My Grandpa",
which included a picture of Grandpa, the temple,
and Pres. Ezra Taft Benson

Dad served in many callings in the church including bishopric
counselor, bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, Regional
Representative, Patriarch, counselor in the Los Angeles Temple
presidency, and president of the Los Angeles temple. In this
photo he is speaking at an area conference in CA. in the Rose Bowl.

"My Three Sons": always a source of pride
"We have no greater joy than to hear that our children walk in truth"
3 John 1-4

Dad has played an influential role in our lives as Pariarch of the McEwan family! He has been there for all the important occasions and is responsible for a lot of wonderful memories. He has likewise supported our children by attending blessings, baptisms, giving them their Patriarchal Blessings, attending their mission farewells and returns, and has sealed them to their spouses in the Nauvoo and Mesa Temples. His support is never-ending!

And who has been his constant companion for so many years? Betty Jean Clark McEwan!
We can hardly think of one without the other!

How can a few words and photos do justice to all the years of love and support that he has given us? The real tribute will be how we continue to live our lives as good fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grand children and great-grandchildren, following his great example of love of family and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

WE LOVE YOU, DAD :)
