CALIFORNIA FUN!

What a super week we had in California!  We stayed in Arcadia, on familiar Longden Ave, with Mother & Dad McEwan.  Michael, Lea, Mazy, and Evey also enjoyed Mother & Dad's hospitality.  Brian, Megan, Claire, Jack, and Joseph stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, compliments of Brian's company.

Monday we went to Huntington Beach where Rob used to surf in his teen-age years.  It was chilly, as you can see everyone taking their time getting used to the water.  The grandchildren eventually went all the way in!

Rob, Megan, and Joseph watching from the beach.

Brian gave Joseph Brian McEwan a beautiful blessing as the family all gathered together for that special time Monday night.
Rob, Michael, and Joseph.  There were 4 generations participating in the blessing.  I'll be able to post that picture in the future, with Joseph, Brian, Michael, Rob, and Dad/Grandpa(Jack).

Claire & Jack climbing on a Disney character

Goofy was on hand for pictures:)

Claire playing at lunchtime.

Rob riding the rockets!

Sandy on the ship.

We had a great spot to watch the Disney Parade:)
Evey waving at the princesses:)

I always like drummers in a parade!

Minnie was a favorite - she got lots of waves:)

Rob & Michael rented wet suits so they could try a little surfing!

Mazy was up for surfing too:)

Mazy trying out the wave board with Michael:)

Don't know why this is sideways??

Dad, Mother, Rob, Sandy visiting the local museum on Thursday.  Michael & family had to head for home.
After the initial shock of rocking and being WAY up high, Jack was able to smile at the top of the ferris wheel!

More ferris wheel fun - we had to stick together for courage!

He's the one who chose the cab that rocks!

One of those dumb pictures you take of yourselves on a ride:)

You ride a big tire on air and have to lean to make yourself move.

Rob can always find an airplane to look at!

We're on board the Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego.  Here we are trying out the pilot ejection seats.

Pilot Rob

Ready for take-off!

The navy band presented a concert on the birthday of the Navy.

We heard 2 excellent lectures on taking off and landing on the aircraft carrier by a retired pilot who had done it.
Well, a week in the great California weather had to come to an end.   We took home some fun family memories!

Joseph: Grandma's Visit

Joseph, 4 days old
Jack and Claire adore their new brother:)

My role was great - playing with Claire & Jack every day:)

Sunday dinner - some of you have seen this one on Facebook:)

It was a busy 10 days.  Megan is amazing and doing well.  Brian is the proud daddy.  We get to see them next week in California!
Please excuse my 2 sideways pictures - no time to fix:)

Visit to Brian, Megan, Claire, & Jack

Our family who went to the Brigham City Temple Open House.  We had lunch later together.  Brian still had his beard, hoping to be called as an extra for a church film.

Megan, the kids, and me.

Claire and Jack, big sister and little brother:)

Claire & Jack at the Brigham City Temple Open House.  They were so excited to GO INSIDE the temple!
My friends Linda, from Idaho, and Diana, from Provo, UT, joined me for BYU Education Week.  It has been probably 30 years since I have seen Linda!  Luckily I have seen Diana every few years when we have visited Utah.

Shopping in a cool cart, eating popcorn:)

Claire riding Jack's bike on the back porch.

The Amtrak ride through Utah and Colorado was beautiful!  I spent hours just looking out the window and talking to fellow travelers and the man in the snack bar!
My train stopped in Glenwood Springs on the way home so I got out to snap a photo.  Michael and Lea chose a beautiful little city to live in!

I was told that Route 70 is built up on ramps for many miles to disturb the canyon as little as possible.
More beautiful terrain on my way home.
Leaving the Rocky Mountains behind...

Wow, this trip was the highlight of my summer:)
